Britain's biggest warship, HMS Prince of Wales, has left the Bermuda Triangle after carrying out its second successful operation involving drones - and has the footage to prove it.

A social media post by the vessel showed bird's eye view video of the 280-metre-long aircraft carrier accompanied by the text: "We've left the Bermuda Triangle, thought we'd have a look around... 2nd drone operation of the deployment (tick)."

Personnel on board the Royal Navy ship will be operating off the east coast of the United States until Christmas, conducting experimental operations with their American counterparts involving F-35B Lightning stealth fighters, MV-Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft and Mojave drones.

Task Group Assemble

In another tweet on X, formerly known as Twitter, HMS Prince of Wales said: "Who needs Bermuda triangles when you have friends like this... Task group assemble!"

The tweet was accompanied by imagery and footage of the warship's collaboration with US vessels.

In addition to the new drone op, the ship has already carried out a replenishment at sea with a US Navy supply vessel and has made a crossing of the Atlantic.

Earlier this month, a supply drone safely landed on the Royal Navy aircraft carrier in a first for naval operations.

The Southampton-based W Autonomous Systems (WAS) drone flew from the Lizard Peninsula and onto the deck of HMS Prince of Wales off the Cornish coast.

It delivered supplies, then returned to the Lizard after completing its milestone flight.

Watch: Royal Naval experimental flight leads to global first in drone warfare

The ultimate goal of this experimental flight is to develop the ability to deploy drones within a UK Carrier Strike Group so they can work alongside F-35B Lightning jets as well as Merlin and Wildcat helicopters.
