A major oil and gas processing plant was attacked by a drone strike in Russia's Republic of Bashkortostan according Radiy Khabirov, leader of the Republic.

According to a Kyiv intelligence source, the strike occurred approximately 1,500 km (932 miles) from Ukraine, marking its longest-range attack since the onset of the war, as reported by Reuters.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has increasingly been employing the use of drones, with attacks on oil plants strategically aimed to undermine vital energy facilities crucial for funding both the economy and the ongoing war.

The attack damaged a pumping station building at Gazprom's Neftekhim Salavat oil and gas refinery complex, one of Russia's largest plants.

There were no reported casualties, according to Russia's emergency services.

Ukrainian drones have wreaked havoc on Russian warships, as well as Russian bomber jets deep within Russian territory over the past 26 months.

Unable to quickly match Russia's vast arsenal of cruise and ballistic missiles, Kyiv has focused on developing long-range drones to retaliate against Russia's bombardment.

Ukraine's head of the state arms manufacturer stated on Wednesday that Ukraine was producing the same number of deep strike drones as Russia, Reuters reported.

Claiming to have reached parity in drone production with Russia is a key milestone for Ukraine's arms manufacturing considering the heavy use of drones in the war by both sides.

Moscow has lost an estimated 3,000 pieces of armour in Ukraine, from tanks to armoured personnel carriers, many of these loses due to drone attacks.

Russian tanks have had to adapt to thwart drone attacks by using so-called 'cope cages' for protection.

Meanwhile, Radiy Khabirov held a meeting to discuss a number of additional measures to strengthen the protection systems of the recently attacked oil complex, Russian media reported.
