How China might make use of another increase to its defence spending

China is planning to increase its military spending by 7.2% this year.

It follows Beijing's decision in 2022 to increase its expenditure by 7% on the year before.

Defence spending in the country is up – for the eighth consecutive year – highlighting the emphasis China places on its military development.
