Queen's Dragoon Guards: A Farewell To Germany

As 1st The Queen's Dragoon Guards prepare to leave Germany, we take a look back at their recent history in the country that has played host to them for more than 40 years.
 
Nicknamed The Welsh Cavalry, the regiment was formed in 1959 by the amalgamation of 1st King's Dragoon Guards and the 2nd Dragoon Guards (Queen's Bays).
 
It's spent much of its history based in Germany at various times, but also had squadrons dispersed throughout the Middle East whilst the regiment served during the Aden Emergency in 1966 and 1967.
