Royal Gibraltar Regiment take over Royal duties at Buckingham Palace

The Royal Gibraltar Regiment has taken up sentry duties at Buckingham Palace, St James' Palace and the Tower of London.

It is only the third time in its more than 80-year history that the regiment has been given the honour of guarding the sovereign's palaces – the ceremony marks the beginning of a month of public duties for the regiment.

A symbolic changing of the guard ceremony saw the old Irish Guards hand over the sentry duties to the Gibraltar regiment in front of large crowds.
