Rochdale Hornets Unite Community With Wheelchair Rugby

Wheelchair rugby is helping veterans integrate with the civilian community in Rochdale.

The local rugby league team - the Rochdale Hornets - have helped set up a club to encourage people from all backgrounds to take up the sport.

The club was assisted by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund and is open to both able-bodied or disabled players.

The side is half ex-military and half civilian, with ages ranging from teens to an 80-year-old former paratrooper.

The sport follows similar rules to rugby league and the Hornets are preparing for their upcoming league campaign in the summer.
