Afghan interpreters now facing passport issues after Taliban turmoil

Former interpreters who supported British forces in Afghanistan are now struggling to complete their journey to the UK, unable to meet documentation demands.

After months spent trapped in the country following last summer’s Taliban takeover, some of those eventually granted Government clearance have been unable to send passports on behalf of themselves and their families.

Forces News has heard from a number of sources that Kabul’s passport office is closed, and has spoken to former interpreters who fear for their lives if the Taliban learns of their identities.
