The Taliban government in Afghanistan has denied allegations that it has been seeking out and killing former members of the Afghan security services.

Several countries, including the United States, have made claims that summary executions are being carried out by the Taliban against those people who served under the previous government.

A Taliban spokesman has said they are willing to allow an independent investigation to look into such claims.

In August, shortly after seizing power, the Taliban made a pledge not to target former government employees.

A Taliban spokesman says the group stands by that pledge.

The United States has warned that the Taliban will ultimately be judged by its actions.
