In a touching moment, actor Benedict Cumberbatch read the letter of one of the youngest soldiers to die in the Afghanistan war.

During a Letters Live performance at the Royal Albert Hall in October, the Sherlock and Marvel actor read Rifleman Cyrus Thatcher's letter to his family.

A video of the emotional reading was shared online by 'Letters Live' last week.

Cyrus was killed by an explosion while on patrol in Helmand Province in 2009.

The 19-year-old had left a letter at his home in Reading to be read in the event of his death.
