Memorial service for last surviving Dambusters pilot

A memorial service has taken place in London for the last surviving pilot from the RAF’s Dambusters Squadron, Squadron Leader Lawrence 'Benny' Goodman.

The airman, who died in July 2021, helped to demolish Germany’s Arnsberg railway viaduct with a 22,000 pound ‘Grand Slam’ bomb.

Though Mr Goodman joined 617 Squadron too late to take part in the famous Dambusters raid, he completed 30 operations against enemy targets during the Second World War.
