New Commander British Forces Takes Over In Gibraltar

A new Commander British Forces has been appointed in Gibraltar.

Commodore Tim Henry has taken over from Commodore Mike Walliker.

A ceremonial gun salute welcomed the formal change of command.

Cdre Henry joined the Royal Navy in 1989.

As a lieutenant, Cdre Henry commanded the Gibraltar Squadron boat HMS Trumpeter.

He went on to command the Royal Navy Training Team in Iraq as a lieutenant commander; the frigate HMS Portland as a Commander, and the Navy flagship HMS Ocean, as a Captain. 

Commodore Henry has also held posts with responsibility for UK and NATO operations; most recently, he was the Assistant Head of UK Counter-terrorism, Resilience and Operations for the Ministry of Defence. 

He was joined by his family during the change in command.
