No annual pay rise for most UK military personnel this year

Most British military personnel will go without an annual pay rise this year, it has been confirmed.

A public sector pay freeze was announced in November, and now the Armed Forces pay review body has been formally asked to delay its next recommendation to ministers on salaries.

The confirmation follows Chancellor Rishi Sunak's Budget speech earlier today.

When he announced the freeze last year, he said public sector workers earning less than £24,000 per year would still get a pay increase of at least £250.

In his speech today, the Chancellor also announced an additional £10m of funding for veterans' mental health needs.
