Horses and soldiers from The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery have been treated to a visit from Hollywood icon Tom Cruise.

While the Her Majesty's Mounted Ceremonial Battery has to perform on the big stage during state occasions, the actor has recently starred in the Top Gun: Maverick movie.

The film was well received by military and civilian audiences alike, featuring real cockpit action in US fighter jets.

Back down on the ground, Mr Cruise was seen smiling and joking with personnel.

Known as the 'Horse Gunners', the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery's role includes the firing of Royal Salutes to mark occasions such as the Queen's Birthday Parade, Royal birthdays and Royal births.
