Vladimir Putin approved to use military force outside of Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been approved to use military force outside of the country by Russian legislators in a move that could indicate a broader attack on Ukraine.

Putin also called for the recognition of Crimea as part of Russia, a halt to weapons shipments to Ukraine and an end to Ukraine's efforts to join NATO.

It follows the movement of Russian troops into rebel-held areas of Eastern Ukraine following Putin's decision to recognise their independence.
