Modernising RAF Akrotiri the 'big project' for British Forces Cyprus, outgoing commander says

British Forces Cyprus is getting a new commander as British Army Major General Rob Thomson leaves his post – and the military.

In his final interview in the role, he told Forces News his successor, from the RAF, is the right fit for the job, in order to develop and modernise RAF Akrotiri "to make it an airbase fit for the 21st Century".

Speaking to Sofie Cacoyannis during his last week in the position, General Thomson said he is "leaving with a heavy heart".
