HMS Prince of Wales' departure for her deployment to the US has been delayed.

The Royal Navy aircraft carrier was set to leave Portsmouth Naval Base at Friday lunchtime.

The reason for the delay is currently unknown.

Forces News was preparing to live stream the ÂŁ3.2bn vessel's journey out of Portsmouth but this has also now been cancelled.

The 65,000-tonne ship is expected to take part in the WestLant 22 training exercise alongside American and Canadian forces off the east coast of the US and will also visit New York to host the Atlantic Future Forum on 28-29 September.
