Red Arrows join Portuguese F-16s to mark British-Portuguese alliance anniversary

Watch: RAF Red Arrows join Portuguese F-16s for special anniversary flypast over Lisbon.

The iconic Red Arrows display team teamed up with Portuguese F-16s to mark the 650th anniversary of the British-Portuguese Alliance with a flypast.

Cockpit footage shows the Red Arrows in formation with Portuguese aircraft crossing downtown Lisbon.

The event took place in the anniversary year of the British-Portuguese Alliance, the oldest military and diplomatic alliance in the world.

This flypast event follows the commemorative ceremonies last week in London, attended by King Charles III and Portugal's President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

The Red Arrows began their updated and "more dynamic" display season in May, adding in some large precision shapes into their routines, where the jets fly in close, tight formations.

They will perform more than 60 displays at locations in the UK and overseas. Here is where you can see the 2023 displays.
