British Army photographer recalls 'special moment' Queen asked to see portrait

A British Army photographer has told Forces News about the "special moment" he photographed Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral Castle.

In 2007, Mark Owens was asked to photograph Her Majesty "one to one" as she received a Royal Regiment of Scotland brooch at Balmoral Castle.

"Strangely, I didn't think that I would be able to interact with her, but she actually wanted to see the picture," he said.

"So, she came over to my side and wanted to see the picture on the back of the camera and exclaimed 'oh that was lovely' before leaving the room.

"It was quite a special moment," he said.
