Beating Retreat: Infantrymen come together for ceremonial spectacular
Some of the British Army's most skilled musicians were put through their paces during two weeks of preparation in Catterick for the Army School of Ceremonial's annual Beating Retreat.
Featuring personnel drawn from across the service map, it gave infantry soldiers who have diversified their careers by learning the drums, flute or bugle the chance to focus on the ceremonial side of their roles for a fortnight, as the video report above explains.
Beating Retreats are commonplace across the Army throughout the summer months. But no other event brings together so many infantrymen, from so many battalions.
