Fit For Kings: New Road To Benefit Bulford & 5 RIFLES

Building work is currently underway across the Salisbury Plain Training Area in preparation for soldiers and their families returning from Germany.

The installation of a new tank road is among the many critical constructions taking place as part of the Army Basing Programme.

A concrete 20-tonne beam will form part of a bridge, enabling military vehicles to cross a stream and onto Salisbury Plain.

It'll provide tracked vehicle access to and from Ward Barracks in Bulford - now home to 5 RIFLES, who recently moved from Germany.

The road has been a long time coming for locals, with the rebasing the extra push needed to help keep big military vehicles off village roads.

The build should be completed by the end of the summer and is part of a number of road improvements across the Salisbury Plain area.
