How a military mindset helped 2 SCOTS major take on TV's Gladiators
A Royal Regiment of Scotland soldier has grappled his way into the quarter-final of the hit BBC show Gladiators.
Major Finlay Anderson, 2 SCOTS, has explained to Forces News how the "military mindset" helped give him the power to take on the Gladiators in the 'ultimate test of strength and speed' on the latest reboot of the iconic 90s show.
The company commander credited his military background for helping him through the filming of multiple back-to-back events.
'Military mindset'
Maj Anderson said it helped him "just to keep going no matter what and never quit".
He added: "Not finishing until the job is done, that's the military mindset against all costs and whatever it may take.
"I think that's where the training really came into its own."
Maj Anderson took on Duel, Gauntlet, The Wall, and new events The Ring and The Edge before taking on the final challenge of The Eliminator which sees the contestants timed against the clock and each other with the winner progressing to the next stage of the competition.
Maj Anderson said elements of the challenge were "kind of similar" to the military assault course in some ways, but did note that some of the items were certainly not on the military assault courses.
But he added: "The diversity of what you experience in the military is probably what set me up as well."
