British Army Captain Harpreet Chandi, known as Polar Preet, is now the holder of two records – confirmed by Guinness World Records.

Capt Chandi has had her second world record confirmed, after completing the longest solo unsupported one-way polar ski journey last month.

She had already become the first Asian female to complete a solo ski expedition to the South Pole in 2022.

Both of her accomplishments have been confirmed by Guinness World Records.

She said of the latest trek she finished in January: "It feels incredible to have travelled such a distance, although it was always about so much more than a record.

"It was a lot tougher than last year's expedition – the toughest thing I've ever done.

"I'm disappointed I ran out of time to make the crossing of Antarctica, but I did everything I could."

Polar Preet completed the longest solo unsupported one-way polar ski journey by traveling 922.44 miles across Antarctica from the Hercules Inlet to the Reedy Glacier over 70 days and 16 hours between 13 November 2022 and 23 January 2023.

As a person of Indian heritage, she was also the first Asian woman to complete the challenge to the South Pole as well.

Capt Chandi is also the first woman to ski solo to the South Pole twice since her first adventure between November 2021 and January 2022.

The Army captain and physiotherapist is currently awaiting surgery following the impact her adventure had on her body.
