Gurkhas take on the heat in the Australian outback

Watch: Gurkhas join allies to train in Australian outback.

Soldiers from the First Battalion, Royal Gurkha Rifles endured the heat to train in sweltering temperatures of 38°C in the Australian outback.

Alongside personnel from the Australian Army and US Marines, they took on the harsh conditions for Exercise Pacific Khukri 2023, training as multinational companies on the vast Mount Bundey training area near Darwin.

The five-week exercise also involved the troops practising fighting street by street and building by building through an urban complex, supported by Australian combat engineers to blow entry into buildings and dismantle boobytraps.
