HMS Albion tests land, sea and air capabilities off English coast

Forces News has been on board HMS Albion as the ship's crew were put through their paces ahead of deploying to the Mediterranean.

The amphibious warfare ship was training alongside RFA Mounts Bay, 45 Commando Royal Marines and Merlin helicopters in Plymouth Sound earlier this month.

The ship has been training around the UK coastline as part of Op Achillean which will see the Navy's Littoral Response Group North predominately working in the Mediterranean.

HMS Albion is being joined by RFA Mounts Bay, HMS Defender and RFA Argus, as well as Merlin and Wildcat helicopters and Puma drones on the deployment.

Earlier on Wednesday, the ship tweeted a photo of it coming alongside in Rota, Spain.

This report was filed prior to the death of Her Majesty The Queen.
