2017 marks the centenary of 84 Squadron, the RAF's last remaining Search and Rescue Unit.
Throughout this week our reporter Simon Newton is taking a look at the various roles they perform from their base in Cyprus.
Nowadays one of the most important of those is firefighting.
And last summer 84 Squadron played a vital part in tackling one of the worst wildfires the island had ever seen.
