On The Road To Rio 2016

An insight has been given into what it takes for a military veteran to make it to the Paralympics.

A number of former serving personnel are now international para athletes heading to Rio 2016 with the support of Help For Heroes.

The military charity has been involved with Sports Recovery since 2008.

In the past year alone they have put on 350 events across 50 different sports enabling over 2,000 wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans to take part in adaptive sports.

A handful of those have gone on to excel so the transition between injury and the international stage is becoming more common.

Jayne Kavanagh is that link, she’s the Performance Pathway Manager for Help For Heroes

Cath Brazier caught up with Jayne at the Help for Heroes Recovery Centre at Tedworth House.
