Royal Marines mark 80th anniversary of Free French Commando unit

Members of the Royal Marines and of the French Navy’s elite troops gathered in Scotland to mark the 80th anniversary of the first Free French Commando unit.

A service marking the occasion took place at the Commando Memorial in the Highlands.

The location of the event was chosen as it is near where the first French Commandos trained with British counterparts during the Second World War.

Commanding Officers from both forces laid a wreath at the memorial to pay tribute to those who fought and served before them.
