Afghan Air Power Improves With New Recruits

The Afghan military has gained new air capability with the delivery of MD 530-F helicopters.

The Afghan National Army will use the new airpower to provide close air support and engage insurgents in remote terrain.

The delivery comes as the Taliban are beginning their spring offensive in the country - the first year it will do so without NATO troops being in the country.

In recent weeks, attacks have intensified in the north and east of Afghanistan ahead of the warmer weather of the fighting season.
