Bad Day At The Office For Russian Pilot

Accidents are frequent in military aviation, especially during training flights.

Just ask the Russian Air Force.

Last week, an Su-34 bomber ran off the runway upon landing and overturned only hours after a MiG-29 fighter jet crashed near its base in Astrakhan. Neither of the plane's crew-members were seriously hurt, the Defence Ministry said.

According to sources quoted by the agency, the Russian Su-34 plane veered off the runway shortly after landing and then turned over.

A Defence Ministry source said the plane didn't deploy its drag chute — a small parachute deployed by heavier aircraft such as the Su-34 to slow down after touching the runway.
