Be Part Of The Battle Of Britain Commemorations

The Royal Air Force is looking for help in creating a month long project to commemorate those who took part in the 1940 Battle of Britain.

By the middle of September they want to create a mosaic built from thousands of photos donated by members of the public.

The aim being to not only acknowledge and offer a fitting tribute to 'The Few' but also remember 'The Many' - the countless unsung others whose work was vital to the RAF's victory in the skies above Britain.

As well as contributions from the UK the RAF Museum in Hendon also want appropriate photos from the Commonwealth and occupied countries, such as France and Poland, where people fought and ultimately died to defend Britain.

The final mosaic will form an iconic image of Hurricane and Spitfire fighters in close formation. Initially the picture will be comprised of RAF archive images, which will be replaced as new photos are uploaded.
