Britain Requested Assistance in Offshore Search
Britain was forced to ask for help to keep a check on its own waters, with NATO planes from the US, France, and Canada called in to RAF Lossiemouth to investigate reported sightings of a submarine periscope off the west coast of Scotland.
Defence experts have called the matter ‘hugely embarrassing’, which comes two months after the Swedish Navy responded to a credible tip-off of possible Russian submarine activity in its waters.
