Fake Death British Jihadist Jailed for 12 Years

A West London jihadi who fled a Syrian training camp has been jailed for 12 years.

Imran Khawaja, 27, appeared in "horrific and deeply disturbing" videos posted online for Islamic State's propagandist arm, including posing with severed heads, dead fighters and child soldiers during his six-month stint with the Rayat al-Tawheed (RaT) insurgents in the war-torn country last year.

After falsely spreading word of his death online, he was stopped by port officials at Dover while trying to regain entry to the UK with his older cousin, Tahir Bhatti, who had been dispatched to rescue him.

He has since appealed to young British Muslims to not make the same mistakes he did.
