Former British Soldier Fighting IS for "Humanity"

A former British soldier who's travelled to Northern Iraq to fight against Islamic State says he's there for humanity and the Kurdish people.

Alan Duncan, from Scotland, told the BBC he's fighting with a Christian group alongside the Kurdish Peshmerga.

Mr Duncan, who served with the Royal Irish Regiment, said he went because in his view people in the Middle East have been 'left to fend for themselves'.

The Home Office has urged people not to join the conflicts in Iraq or Syria.
