Fresh Calls For UK To Continue Meeting NATO Spending Target

The Prime Minister is facing renewed pressure to continue meeting the NATO defence spending target of two per cent of national income.

Three senior Conservative backbenchers, seen as candidates to chair the Defence Select Committee, have warned of dangers and damage to Britain if the target is missed.

And a lobby group of former senior officers, the National Defence Association, has called for a commitment to the target to “repair the damage” done to security and defence in recent years.
