Funding Help For WWII Veterans Attending VE Day Commemorations
Veterans of the Second World War and serving Guards have gathered at Horse Guards Parade to promote some of the events taking place to mark VE day in a few weeks time.
They'll take place over the weekend of 8-10 May to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
A couple of the veterans took time out at the launch to have their very first 'selfie' taken by our reporter Kate Wathall...
The Royal British Legion, meanwhile, has called for veterans of the Second World War to join the national events in London.
All those 85 years and over (by 8 May 2015) who served in the military, the Home Guard or in any one of the reserved occupations, including medics, police and the 'Bevin Boys' during World War Two are eligible to attend and can receive funding towards travel for them and one nominated carer.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Cenotaph on Friday May 8 before a Service of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey, followed by a march through London on Sunday May 10.
