The vessel is one of the largest ships of its kind still in service and is on a goodwill tour of the world, having already visited Portugal, Germany and Holland before the UK.

The ship, which was launched 47 years ago, has a crew of 150, including 67 cadets from the Colombian Naval Academy and the ship’s mascot, a black Labrador named Black Pearl.
