Iraq War Report Delayed Until After Election

The long-awaited report of the Iraq War Inquiry will not be published until after the general election in May this year.

The Chilcot inquiry's chairman has written to the Prime Minister updating him on progress, and says he can see no realistic prospect of releasing his findings before polling day.

The delay has been branded ‘Incomprehensible’ by the Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, and senior tory backbencher, David Davis.

Tim Cooper reports.

Meanwhile Major General Tim Cross, a senior British Commander in Iraq who dealt with the aftermath of the coalition invasion of the country, has told Forces TV of his disappointment at the extended delay in the publication of the report.
