Islam Awareness Week with the Forces
The MoD has been marking Islam Awareness Week, by bringing together serving personnel and community leaders in London.
Defence Minister Lord Astor told the gathering they were there because of unfair misconceptions about the Muslim community - and the parallel myth that the armed forces are no place for a Muslim.
Forces TV has also been hearing from a former RAF officer, who is Muslim, about her experience.
Below, Sergeant Wazeeha Laher talks to Kaija Larke about her parents reaction when she told them why she wanted to join the RAF.
