Islamic State "Takes Syrian Town Near Palmyra"

Islamic State claims to have taken a Syrian town close to the world heritage site of Palmyra.
 
It follows gains made in Iraq earlier this week when they took the the city of Ramadi.
 
In the latest development, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says militants have taken control of a nearby airport, prison and intelligence headquarters.
