Jets Scrambled As Russian Aircraft Tracked Flying Towards UK Airspace

An RAF spokesperson says Typhoons have been launched from RAF Lossiemouth after Russian aircraft were tracked flying towards British airspace.

The intercept comes just two days after RAF fighters operating as part of NATO's Baltic Air Policing mission escorted a Russian reconnaisance aircraft away from a huge military exercise in Estonia.

175 UK Armed Forces personnel are currently in the country to help test the Estonian military's defences against any potential attack.
