MoD to Send UK Troops to Train Syrians

Forces TV has learnt that the Ministry of Defence is planning to send British troops to help train members of the moderate Syrian opposition in the fight against Islamic State.

It comes after the Pentagon announced that the US is to deploy more than 400 personnel to train Syrians in Saudia Arabia, Turkey and Qatar.

The news comes after a week in which coalition forces are reported to have struck more than 70 Islamic State targets in both Syria and Iraq - with US central command saying there have been dozens of successful strikes in the region.

Tim Cooper reports.

The RAF, meanwhile, has continued its part in Operation Shader in Iraq - Carla Prater has more.
