"MoD Spent £33m on 'Undeliverable' Plan"
The Ministry of Defence spent £33 million on an ‘undeliverable’ plan to part-privatise the buying and maintenance of Britain's military equipment, according to the government’s spending watchdog.
The National Audit Office says lessons have been learned, but that the MoD still needs to show how its replacement plan will fix weaknesses in defence acquisition.
The Ministry of Defence says most of the £33m was money well spent, and that it is informed the new scheme will see Defence Equipment and Support run at arms length.
