Mother of Briton Killed Fighting IS: We Must Stop Standing By
The mother of a former Royal Marine killed whilst fighting against Islamic State says more needs to be done to tackle the group.
Konstandinos Scurfield travelled to Syria last November, just days after leaving the Forces. Earlier this month he became the first Briton to die fighting IS.
His mother Vasiliki Scurfield insists he was not a mercenary and thinks the UK government should be helping equip Syrian Kurdish forces.
Speaking to Forces TV Mrs Scurfield said "Kosta wasn't an out-of-work soldier looking for an adventure.. he was determined to make a difference and although this is not a way that many of us would have had him choose, it was the way he considered the best for him and I am proud of him for finding the courage to do this."
Vasiliki Scurfield spoke to Emma Nelson about her son in an exclusive interview.
