NATO Gives Full Backing To Turkey

NATO has given Turkey its full backing, at an emergency meeting to discuss the country's action against the so-called Islamic State and Kurdish militants.

But officials in Brussels urged the Turkish government not to use excessive force which might undermine its peace deal with Kurdish groups - who are also fighting IS.

The country began airstrikes against IS in Syria last week, and against Kurdish group the PKK in Iraq after a series of terrorist attacks.

It called for the talks, at NATO headquarters, citing fears for its territorial integrity.
