New Cannon For Next Generation Of Armoured Vehicles

The main armament on the British Army’s next generation of "Scout" SV armoured vehicles will be a 40mm cannon able to fire a variety of ammunition.

515 advanced cased-telescope cannons will be built over seven years in a joint venture with BAE Systems and will also upgrade Warrior infantry fighting vehicles.

The UK Defence Secretary, Michael Fallon, said:

"Today I can announce we have signed a GBP150 million contract to fit the Scout with a new Cased Telescope cannon providing it with unrivalled firepower and a new 'airburst ammunition' capability."
The MoD say that the vehicles’ main guns – a 40mm cannon able to fire a variety of types of ammunition – will be built by CTA International (CTAI), a 50:50 joint venture between Britain’s BAE and France’s Nexter Systems in a £150m contract.
