"No Plans to Put Troops on UK Streets"

There are no plans to follow France and put troops on the streets, according to Downing Street officials

It comes after the Prime Minister David Cameron received a 'full briefing' from intelligence and security chiefs on the terrorist threat facing the UK.

It follows the Islamist attacks in Paris in which 17 people were murdered - with new footage having now emerged of French police preparing their assault on the gunmen.

The military’s role in counter-terror operations was also raised at Monday's Defence Questions in the Commons.

Kate Gerbeau spoke to Forces TV correspondent James Hirst, who reports from Westminster.
