Operation Pedestal: How The Allies Saved Malta

In 1942 the Mediterranean island of Malta was on the brink of surrender after two and a half years of constant bombing. 
 
But the island, and its artillery, went on to play a big part in the success of Allied forces in the Second World War.
 
The Maltese people later became the only entire population to be awarded the George Cross, Britain's highest civilian honour for bravery.
 
Forces TV's Ali Gibson has been to the capital Valletta, to find out about Operation Pedestal, the mission that saved Malta.
