Remembering The Irish Troops Who Fought In WWI

When the First World War broke out in 1914, Ireland was still part of the British Empire.

There were 13 Irish regiments within the ranks of the British Expeditionary Force - the first British Army force sent to mainland Europe after the outbreak of war.

And the Royal Munster Fusiliers, who would see action on the Western Front and Gallipoli, were among this number.

Forces TV's Fiona Weir has been to County Kerry, the recruiting ground of “The Munsters”, to speak to military historian Tom Dillon.
