Royal Navy Heralds Royal Birth
The Royal Navy's HMS Lancaster and HMS Dragon have heralded the birth of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's new daughter.
Sailors standing on the flight decks of Type 23 frigate and the Type 45 destroyer, both currently deployed in the Atlantic, spelt out the word sister.
Commanding Officer of HMS Lancaster, Commander Peter Laughton MBE, said: “On behalf of the ship’s company of HMS Lancaster, may I convey our best wishes to Her Majesty on the birth of Her latest great-grandchild.”
Her Majesty the Queen launched HMS Lancaster in 1990 and has maintained close links with the ship ever since.
And from HMS Dragon Leading Writer Danielle Henry, also a mother to two of her own small children, said:
“From all of the ship’s company onboard HMS Dragon we would like to send our best wishes and congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their new baby.”
