Russia Begins Large-Scale 'Snap' Exercise

Russian forces have started a large-scale 'snap' exercise, with 12,000 troops and 250 aircraft reportedly involved.

It's a short-notice exercise aimed at testing the country's air defences, and will involve the live-firing of surface-to-air and cruise missiles.

It comes ahead of a larger exercise planned for the coming months, named 'Centre 2015', and amid continuing tensions between Russia and the West over Ukraine.
